Homemade Frozen Burger Patties

Growing up, burgers were always one of my dad's specialties. He would get some fresh ground meat, mix it with his choice of seasoning - which usually involved a bunch of worcesterhire sauce {say that three times fast}, then let it marinate for a few hours before cooking. There was pride in serving his own handcrafted burgers and for his dedication I am thankful.

Have you ever read the labels on processed frozen burgers? I find that the majority of those pre-made frozen burger patties have unnecessary fillers in them not to mention they just don't taste as good as homemade ones (unless you get them directly from the butcher... I cannot argue with how good those one's taste!). Instead of possibly spending more on less, purchase fresh ground meat at a great deal and then make your own patties to freeze. How convenient and budget friendly.

It's real simple to make frozen burger patties:

Take a couple pounds of ground meat (any variety - here I have pictures of lamb burgers and beef burgers) and season. Burgers don't need lots of seasoning to make them great, keep it simple.

Salt & pepper - super simple
Dash of tamari or soy sauce
few teaspoons of chili sauce
drop or two of horseradish
fresh chopped herbs - parsley or mint (for lamb burgers)

The ideas are endless, use your imagination.

Once the burgers are seasoned to your liking, cut some pieces of parchment paper. Yes, those are my husband's hands... I put him to work in my kitchen! Set aside the pieces while forming the burger patties.

Begin stacking your patties, adding a layer of wax paper in between each burger.

Then slip into freezer bags or store in pyrex. Place into freezer and voila, you're done and ready to pop those babies out whenever you want a burger.

Wasn't that easy?

What are your favourite burger seasonings? Do you have an ultimate burger recipe you just cannot get enough of?

Bon Appetit!
